About Us
The Linux Developer Network (LDN) is a community of Linux developers, vendors, and experts dedicated to the purpose of helping Linux application developers build LSB-compliant applications and make their existing Linux applications portable to any LSB-compliant distribution. LDN is also a community ultimately dedicated to the betterment of Linux, the free and open source operating system.
LDN's stated mission:
- It is a site dedicated to LSB. It promotes the LSB for wide acceptance and use in the Linux community
- It is the single source of the latest distribution of the LSB Tools used to obtain LSB certification
- It is the single source for LSB Specifications and test packages to perform Application Certification
- It is a site where developers gather and share information on use of LSB, Linux, and general development
- It is an intersection point between Distribution, ISV, and Application developers
LDN is sponsored and published by the Linux Foundation, a nonprofit consortium dedicated to fostering the growth of Linux. Founded in 2007, the LF sponsors the work of Linux creator Linus Torvalds and is supported by leading Linux and open source companies and developers from around the world. The Linux Foundation promotes, protects, and standardizes Linux by providing unified resources and services needed for open source to successfully compete with closed platforms.
LDN is operated and maintained by the LDN Community Manager, Brian Proffitt. For more information or general comments about the site, please contact him.
